A 2 hour 20 minute guided walk through District VII with entry to the Dohány Street and Rumbach Street synagogues and the Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park.
Behind the bars and restaurants of today's Jewish Quarter lies a rich and moving history, and your guide shows you where to find it. The tour begins inside the Dohány Street Synagogue, the largest in Europe, where you learn about Hungary's Neolog Jewish community. Next comes the Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park and the Emanuel Tree of Life, honouring the Righteous Among the Nations who saved tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews. You then go inside the recently reopened Rumbach Street Synagogue, a Moorish-style masterpiece by Otto Wagner from 1872. The walk continues along Király utca, the 18th-century high street of Pest, through Gozsdu Udvar to the Carl Lutz Memorial and the Spinoza House. You finish on Dob utca, once the heart of the ghetto, passing a bakery famous for kosher flódni cake.
